Biography
Anwar Sadat (1918-1981) was the third President of Egypt who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1978 for the Camp David Accords with Israel. Born in Mit Abu El Kom, Sadat made the historic visit to Jerusalem in 1977 and signed the Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty in 1979. He was assassinated in 1981 by Islamist extremists opposed to the peace treaty.
