Biography
Hanan Ashrawi is a Palestinian legislator, activist, and scholar who served as a member of the PLO Executive Committee. Former spokeswoman for the Palestinian delegation to the Middle East peace process. Known globally for her eloquent advocacy of Palestinian rights and her academic work on literature and cultural identity. Born in Nablus in 1946, she studied at the University of Virginia and has taught literature at Birzeit University.
