Biography
Jhalanath Khanal, born on May 20, 1950, in Ilam, Nepal, is a Nepalese politician who served as the 32nd Prime Minister of Nepal in 2011. He was the chairman of the CPN-UML party and has been a member of parliament for multiple terms. Khanal was elected Prime Minister through a consensus process during a critical period in Nepal's peace process. His tenure was short-lived but he played a role in advancing the constitution-making process. He continues to be active in Nepalese politics as a senior leader of his party.
