Suleiman the Magnificent

Suleiman the Magnificent (1494-1566) was the 10th and longest-reigning Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, ruling from 1520 to 1566. Known as 'Kanuni' (The Lawgiver) in Turkey and 'The Magnificent' in Europe, Suleiman presided over the golden age of the Ottoman Empire. Under his rule, the empire reached its greatest territorial extent, stretching from Hungary to Yemen. He was known as both a brilliant military strategist and a patron of arts and culture.
